Every year the City Council establishes Citywide Priorities and Goals to strive towards. The City has created a Dashboard for the public to view the progress of the adopted Goals.
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of all City of Pittsburg facilities and infrastructure and operation of the City’s water treatment plant and water distribution system. Public Works staff provide routine and emergency maintenance of sewers, storm drains, streets, sidewalks, streetlights, street trees, and buildings.
The Public Works Department’s mission is to maintain the physical assets of the City to the highest level possible within fiscal limitations, utilize the financial resources provided to the department in the most cost effective manner possible, and thereby contribute to the quality of life of the residents of the City of Pittsburg.
The Permit Center provides service in five primary areas; Public Information, Permit Management, Construction Inspection, Code Enforcement, Residential Rental Inspection. Our goal is to provide efficient and effective support for all construction projects within the City, regardless of type or size, and to secure the highest standards of safety and access, as required by law.
The City of Pittsburg offers many facility options for your hosting needs. Although most of the 27 parks in our city are one a first come, first served basis, some picnic areas do require an advance registration and permit.

The Adopt-A-Spot Program is a simple and effective way for our community's residents, organizations, and businesses to get involved in improving our community. You can adopt parks, creeks, streets, trails, plazas, and storm drains, and assist with the painting of benches, walls, and buildings. To adopt a location, all you need to do is sign and submit a request form, committing to the program requirements. Once approved by our staff, your commitment is a testament to your empowerment and dedication to our community.
